Niantic unveiled their a comprehensive suite of tools, libraries and resources, empowering developers to craft immersive augmented reality experiences within their games and applications. Recognizing the power of storytelling in tutorials, Niantic sought to leverage Authors’ skills for mixed reality and 3D development. The AR Developer Kit (ARDK) Tutorial has been instrumental in driving the widespread adoption of AR technology among developers.

Niantic sought to leverage their iconic brand elements, Doti the Yeti and the Lightship, to craft a compelling narrative of embarking on a thrilling journey into the unknown.
A collaborative process between different artists from storyboarding, animatics to 3D work, we wanted to focus on creating augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) experiences in real-world locations, Niantic aims to foster connections in the physical world. We brought Doti out in the world following the path of AR elements to the Lightship for an adventure.
Cinematic 3D Assets
We started with a low-poly yeti asset commonly used in gaming and completely reimagined it as a 3D cinematic masterpiece. From crafting the character skeleton to adding intricate muscle layers and elements, we meticulously refined every detail to ensure lifelike movement and realism. The result? A multidimensional character worthy of the big screen, brought to life by the expertise of Authors.
